Lane DeCamp's Election Statement
I like to joke with Jeff Pyatt that I was racing before he was born. My racing was never all that great but I really enjoy it and choose to put a lot of my time (a lot of my life, in fact) into racing -- organizing, promoting, managing, and fundraising. I have also put a similar amount of time into developmental sailboat racing (where legs don't count as much), but my special interest is on the track. After several years here at Marymoor, I find I have the support of a marvelous team and a close circle of friends and racers whom I'd like to support in their desire to see a better track and better racing. It's really that simple.
What will I bring? I've been a CEO several times, a chief financial officer several times, and been a professional fundraiser for various kinds of nonprofits like Marymoor. I've organized, promoted, refereed, and raced several hundred events. I've raised a lot of funding for racing and for prize lists. I've been on many boards, both corporate and nonprofit. We have a track with so much promise and so many riders and officials and supporters who can realize that promise. I'd like to contribute to that effort, in particular in fundraising and building a stronger organization at the track.
